The story

The hardened son of a powerful industrialist returns home after years abroad and vows to take bloody revenge on those threatening his father's life.

What it’s like

Hard-edged and saturated: sweeping Indian industrial interiors of marble, steel and dim corridors, lit by hard tungsten and sudden muzzle flashes, with wide anamorphic-feeling frames that let violence and quiet domestic scenes sit side by side. The sound design is loud and percussive, with gunfire cracking through a thick, pulsing score, and long stretches of tense silence between eruptions. Its vibe is brooding, operatic and bruised, a grim family drama with a crime-thriller engine. The action is frequent and explicit: sustained gunfights, machine-gun set pieces, close hand-to-hand brawls with blood and real bodily damage, plus threats, cruelty and some sexual content. Pacing is long and indulgent, with a runtime that lingers on confrontations. The emotional register is abrasive and volatile. Its central figure is a violent, emotionally withdrawn man whose bond with his volatile father grows more toxic and tangled as the film goes on. It suits viewers who want intense, unrelenting action with a dark father-son core, and it is a poor fit for anyone seeking gentle or low-violence viewing.
