The story

When Kouichi arrives at his new school, he immediately senses something frightening in the atmosphere of his new class, something that no student wants to talk about and that seems to be related to a mysterious and silent girl.

What it’s like

Cool, muted palette with washed-out blues and greys, long still frames of empty corridors and classrooms, and a steady, sometimes uncanny stillness that lets the emptiness of a school do the unsettling work. The animation is clean and precise, with faces drawn flat and expressionless so that a single shift in an eyebrow or a held glance carries weight. Sound is sparse: ambient room tone, the drip of rain, distant chatter cutting out abruptly, and a restrained, mournful score that surfaces in slow swells. Vibe: slow-burning dread, cold melancholy, a school term that feels wrong from the first day. Pacing is deliberate, with long beats of quiet interrupted by sudden shocks. Emotionally it sits in grief and guilt, following a newcomer who gradually uncovers a past everyone is refusing to name, and the people around him are shaped by loss. Intensity is high: suicide and its aftermath are present, there is graphic gore and brutal deaths, and the mood is frequently frightening and tragic. Not for gentle viewing. Best suited to viewers who want atmospheric, creeping horror with a mystery at its core and can handle grim, bloody moments.
