The story

Set in a world where witches run havoc, the military decides to shift from using sword to utilizing guns to neutralize magical threats. The Anti-Magic Academy is an institution that specializes in training witch hunters. Takeru Kusunagi, who can’t use guns and continues to fight with a sword, is relegated to the 35th Test Platoon, a motley group who can’t cooperate. One day, Ouka Ohtori, an elite pistol master who was forced into demotion, joins the platoon. Will they be able to gather their strengths and work together?

What it’s like

Bright, saturated cel animation with clean line work, flat daylight over academy courtyards, and sharp, kinetic framing during firefights, where gunfire trails and magical bursts fill the screen in quick cuts. Quieter scenes lean on soft pastel interiors, classroom clutter, and warm lamplight in dorm rooms. The score moves between brisk orchestral action cues and light, bouncy pop-tinged themes, and the sound design gives gunshots a crisp snap. The vibe is playful and lightly romantic, the kind of thing suited to an easy weeknight, a background watch, or a comfort rewatch after a long day. Pacing is episodic, with comedic bickering and sudden bursts of combat, and the emotional register stays breezy, with small rivalries softening into camaraderie. Violence is moderate and cartoonish: fights, injuries, and stakes that rarely turn grim. Ecchi content is frequent, including suggestive camera angles, fan-service moments, and bathing or undressing scenes, but it is not explicit. Best for viewers who enjoy military-school team dynamics, harem-style comedy, and anime action with a fan-service streak.
