The story

A century has passed since magic - true magic, the stuff of legends - has returned to the world. It is spring, the season of new beginnings, and a new class of students is about to begin their studies at the First National Magic University Affiliated High School, nickname: First High. It follows the events of the original series as seen through the eyes of Shiba Miyuki, Tatsuya's sister. The life of an honor student comes with a lot of expectations...and unexpected hidden feelings?!

What it’s like

Bright spring pastels and clean cel-shaded animation give this anime a crisp, sunny look: sakura-lined school grounds, sunlit classrooms, and magic rendered as glowing sigils and luminous bursts of colour against bright skies. The mood is light and warm, with a comfortable, slightly giddy romantic undertow, the kind of cheerful school-life tone that suits a Saturday afternoon or an easy evening after a long week. Episodes move briskly between everyday campus scenes, quiet exchanges, and short, stylish magic duels, with the pacing giving time to characters' small moments and private worries. Its heart is a young woman's blend of pride, expectation, and a quietly growing attraction, handled with earnest sweetness rather than angst. Fighting is frequent but clean and bloodless, with flashy effects and no real gore, and the romance stays chaste and playful. This suits viewers who want a cheerful, low-to-moderate-stakes watch with pretty visuals, light romance, and a bit of action, rather than grim or heavy drama.
