The story
When a kind of rabies that transforms people into aggressive creatures spreads across the planet, Manel isolates himself at home with his cat, relying on his wits to survive; but soon they must go out in search of food, by land and by sea, dodging many dangers.
What it’s like
Grey Atlantic light, rain-soaked villages and wind-battered coastline give this Galician zombie film a damp, weathered look, with muted greens and slate blues rather than neon. The camera stays fairly steady inside the isolated home, then loosens into handheld chases across rocks and open water. Sound is mostly wind, surf, creaking wood and sudden shrieks, with sparse music that swells only when danger closes in. The vibe is bleak, tender and tense: long stretches of quiet loneliness broken by bursts of panic. Pacing alternates waiting and scavenging with abrupt action, and the violence is frequent and graphic, with gore and bodily horror landing hard. The emotional core is a traumatized man slowly reopening himself through his bond with an animal and a cautious relationship with a neighbor. Best for viewers who want a grounded, atmospheric survival story with a human heart, and not a suitable pick for anyone seeking something gentle or low-intensity.
