The story

After the theft of copies of SAT exams from a principal's office, teenage reporter Bobby Funke sets out to unmask the thief.

What it’s like

Bright, flat daytime light over a suburban campus, with lockers, hallways, and fluorescent classrooms that look thoroughly ordinary, and a comic, slightly mock-noir sensibility that treats school as a small, sincere-feeling world of cliques and rumours. The sound is upbeat and playful, with quick edits and a bouncy score that undercuts the stakes at every turn. The mood is brisk, witty, and easygoing, a light caper that moves like a teen detective story and keeps its tone deadpan rather than dark. Its people are sharp, self-conscious kids and adults who take their small crises very seriously, and the arc follows an earnest young reporter learning that the truth is messier, and funnier, than he expected. Intensity is low: some crude teen humour, mild profanity, a few suggestive jokes, and slapstick-style mishaps, with no real gore and no genuine menace. It suits a relaxed weekend afternoon, a comfort watch, or a late-night laugh with friends. It is for viewers who enjoy quirky, dry teen comedies with a playful mystery at their heart.
