The story

When a ruthless robber baron takes away everything they cherish, a rough-and-tumble, idealistic peasant and a sophisticated heiress embark on a quest for justice, vengeance…and a few good heists.

What it’s like

Bright, sun-blasted Mexican desert under a flat noon glare, with dusty adobe towns, bandana-red sashes, and frilly period dresses that look almost cartoonish against the bone-white earth. The camera is busy and playful: quick zooms, sweeping crane shots over dry plains, and set-piece heists staged with a wink, while the score leans on brassy, mariachi-tinged swagger with a steam-whistle flourish when the train rolls in. The vibe is breezy, cheeky and bighearted, a popcorn western with a comic streak rather than a grim one. Pacing is brisk and rarely lets up, and the emotional core is a loud, affectionate friendship between two very different women who bicker, scheme and gradually bond. Violence is present but cartoonish: gunfights and fistfights with little blood, deaths that feel more like stagecraft than cruelty, some mild innuendo and a few crude jokes. Suits viewers who want a fun, undemanding Saturday-afternoon adventure with heart and sunshine, and who don't mind a comedy that's more eye candy than gritty realism.
