The story

Remaster of the first installment of the Bayonetta series, first made available in the "Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary" Bundle. Bayonetta. The last survivor of an ancient witch clan who keep the balance between light, dark and chaos. Entombed to protect herself – and the world as we know it – Bayonetta is discovered and revived after 500 years, sparking a chain of events with cataclysmic repercussions.

What it’s like

Saturated, flamboyant action in a glossy, high-contrast style: neon-bright cityscapes, gothic cathedral interiors lit by stained-glass color, and the flicker of hellish reds and gold during combat, all rendered with the sheen of a polished modern game. The camera follows hyperkinetic fights from behind and above, with combos that flow like choreography and a constant pulse of hard rock, orchestral swells and playful pop-inflected vocals that rise and cut with every hit. Its mood is stylish, loud and irreverent, a campy cocktail of gleeful confidence and sly self-awareness that suits an evening of play when you want spectacle over quiet. The pace is relentless, with brief breathers between set pieces and encounters that escalate fast. Violence is frequent and stylized: cartoonish bloodless impacts, demonic enemies torn apart in showy finishers, and some sexualized costuming and innuendo, with more intense bursts of gore in the later chapters. It is for players who love stylish combat, bold character design, and a bit of cheeky, over-the-top theatricality.
