The story

Neon White is a single-player speedrunning FPS where you can sacrifice your guns for godlike parkour moves.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated anime-inflected art in clean cel-shading, set against stark white heaven-like arenas, with neon pinks, blues and greens flaring off demon targets and cards. The palette is high-contrast and graphic, the camera first-person and fast, the motion snappy and weightless as you chain dashes, slides and mid-air flips through tight courses. Its soundtrack is a driving electronic and punk-leaning score, percussive and relentless, with crisp, satisfying sound design on every kill and card throw. The vibe is kinetic, playful and slightly absurd, with a bittersweet undercurrent that surfaces in its dialogue-driven interludes and its cast of colourful, eccentric characters. Violence is cartoonish and bloodless: enemies burst into light and fragments, with no gore. Pacing is brisk and rhythmic, built around short runs you repeat until they feel effortless, and the emotional arc follows an odd, sardonic protagonist slowly opening up to the people around her. It suits a focused evening of tinkering with routes, short bursts between other things, or anyone who wants a stylish, gore-free action game with a melancholy heart for players who love speedrunning and movement-based challenge.
