The story

Glide through futuristic courses at breakneck speeds and eliminate those who stand in your way. BallisticNG is an action packed anti-gravity racer and the ultimate AG modding sandbox, developed as a love letter to the original Wipeout trilogy.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated neon tracks rendered in clean low-poly geometry, with glowing edges that streak past as your craft hugs the walls of a looping, banked course. The palette runs hot magenta, acid green and electric cyan against deep black voids, and the speed lines and motion blur keep the screen restless without ever becoming muddy. Sound is driven by a pulsing electronic soundtrack that can be swapped for your own music, layered over the hiss of thrusters, the whine of weapon charges and the crackle of shield impacts. Tracks are long and twisting, so the rhythm is hard-edged and propulsive, with brief bursts of combat breaking up long stretches of gliding concentration. Intensity is high in energy but not in gore: the combat is cartoonish, with explosions and ships shattering in bright bursts and nothing graphic. The tone is adrenaline-fuelled and playful, a late-night, one-more-lap kind of game for anyone who loved the futurist racers of the 1990s and wants to tinker with a course, a ship or a soundtrack of their own.
