The story

From the collaboration between Housemarque (Resogun, Alienation, Matterfall), and Robotron and Smash TV legendary creator Eugene Jarvis comes Nex Machina, an explosive arcade experience created with competition in mind.

What it’s like

Hard neon geometry against a near-black void, with arenas that pulse and flicker like a cathode screen fighting its own static. The palette runs on electric cyan, magenta and acid yellow, and the camera sits high and fixed over each small room, so the whole swarm of enemies stays legible as it floods in. The soundtrack is a driving synth-and-techno pulse that tightens as the waves grow, while gunfire and explosions crackle with a crisp, almost percussive snap. The vibe is frantic, glowing and gleefully hostile, with the quick reset rhythm of an arcade cabinet: short bursts of chaos, a clipped retry, and another run. Violence is constant but abstract, a stream of robots and bright blasts with no gore, and the tension is adrenaline rather than dread. It suits a late evening with headphones, a competitive score-chasing session with friends on the couch, or anyone who misses the feel of a coin-op twin-stick shooter and wants to test their reflexes against pure, relentless pressure.
