The story

Waves is a twin stick shooter that can be played by anyone, but with a high enough skill threshold to keep even the most hardened shooter fan entertained. Clear the arena of enemies while racking up a big fat Combo with swift kills and well timed Bombs. If it all gets a bit too much you can use your Time Buffer to slow down the action and turn defeat into victory. Players can compete across seven different game modes with online high-score tables and Achievements in their pursuit of twin-stick perfection.

What it’s like

Bright, abstract geometry against a near-black field: enemies bloom in flat neon shapes, bullets and explosions flare in white and saturated colour, and the screen stays clean enough to read at a glance. The sound is a driving electronic soundtrack with a pulse that tightens as the combo climbs, punctuated by sharp, satisfying blasts and the soft hum of the slow-motion Time Buffer. Play is fast and arcade-direct, with short arena rounds that restart almost immediately, so the rhythm is one of quick loops and chasing a better score. Feels like a late-night, one-more-try session on a controller, with a quick shift into calm focus when the Time Buffer kicks in. Violence is cartoonish and abstract: constant explosions and enemy destruction, with no gore and no human suffering. It suits players who want a bright, high-tempo shooter to lose themselves in for a while, especially score chasers and fans of twin-stick action who enjoy mastering a tight, clean loop.
