The story

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 contains six different game modes: Deadline, King, Evolved, Pacifism, Waves and Sequence. Multiplayer was introduced in this sequel.

What it’s like

Glowing vector geometry on a pitch-black void, every enemy drawn in thin neon lines that flare and shatter into sparks when hit. The palette is electric blue, magenta and acid green against near-black, with the screen shaking and bloom blooming as the swarm grows. The soundtrack is a driving synth pulse that tightens as the action builds, with crunchy, satisfying explosion stings punctuating each kill. Rounds are short and relentless: a time limit or a survival clock ticks down while the arena fills with shapes, and mode variations such as King, Waves and Pacifism reshape the same core loop into new puzzles. Vibe: frantic, hypnotic, arcade-bright. It suits a late-night session, a quick hit between other things, or a stretch of couch co-op with a friend in split screen. Intensity is abstract and cartoonish, with no gore and no violence beyond colourful explosions, though the pace can feel stressful. Made for players who love high-score chasing, twitch reflexes and retro-styled arcade energy.
