The story
Distance is a survival racing game where you pilot a versatile car through a mysterious, ruined world, using boost, jump, rotate, and flight abilities to navigate treacherous tracks and uncover the story of its past. It blends arcade-style racing with exploration, offering solo adventure, multiplayer modes, a built-in level editor with Steam Workshop support, and an original soundtrack.
What it’s like
Neon-streaked night tracks cut through dark, glassy ruins, with glowing magenta and cyan lines drawing the road ahead against a near-black void. The palette is saturated but sparse: the car's headlights and boost trails carry most of the light, and the sprawling, half-collapsed city falls away into deep shadow between checkpoints. Camera follows close behind the vehicle, so the motion feels fast and physical, and the flips and wall-rides make every landing a small jolt. The soundtrack is driving synth pulse with bass that swells on boosts and drops out into eerie quiet when the car is airborne. The vibe is lonely, electric and mysterious, a midnight drive through a dead world that keeps hinting at what happened there. It suits late-night solo play, a focused hour of replaying one brutal track, or a shared couch session with a friend in split-screen. Pacing is tight and punishing, with restarts that come quickly and a steady pull toward mastery. The only danger is the environment itself: falls, hazards and the clock, with no gore, no combat and no cruelty. It is for players who like precise arcade challenge wrapped in atmospheric, slightly melancholy exploration, and for anyone who enjoys building and sharing their own courses.
