The story

Bluey is an inexhaustible six year-old Blue Heeler dog, who loves to play and turns everyday family life into extraordinary adventures, developing her imagination as well as her mental, physical and emotional resilience.

What it’s like

Bright, flat-colour animation with soft outlines, sunny backyards, cluttered living rooms and sprinkler-wet lawns, all drawn in a clean, slightly storybook style that feels hand-made and warm. The palette leans on primary blues, buttery yellows and gentle greens, and the camera stays close and conversational, with bouncy movement and quick cuts that follow a family's play as it happens. Sound is equally cheerful: whimsical incidental music, plenty of giggling and ordinary household noise, and the occasional hush when a game turns quietly tender. The vibe is sunny, playful and easygoing, with a calm underneath, suited to a lazy weekend morning, a family watch-together, or a light background show while you tidy up. Episodes run about seven minutes, so the rhythm is brisk but never frantic, moving from one imaginative game to the next. Emotional beats are small and sincere, and the central family is patient, funny and kind to one another, so the arc is about siblings and parents growing, learning and bouncing back. Intensity is very low: no violence, no peril beyond mild bumps and scraped knees, and nothing frightening. It suits parents and young children, and adults who want something gentle, funny and quietly affectionate.
