The story

Solve puzzles by changing the flow of time in this remaster of the classic, award-winning game Braid. This remaster has new puzzles, hand-repainted graphics and fully reimagined sound, and a completely unreasonable amount of developer commentary.

What it’s like

Painterly, hand-repainted backdrops of storybook gardens, crumbling stone towers and soft watercolour skies give this platformer a warm, slightly faded look, with the puzzle pieces and characters drawn in crisp outlines that stand out against the wash. Ambient, gently reworked music loops under every room, and the signature time-rewind effect ripples the image into a hazy blur, so the world feels like a memory being rewound. The vibe is wistful and thoughtful, a quiet study session rather than a race: it suits a slow evening at a desk, a patient afternoon with headphones, or a mind that enjoys turning a problem over. Pacing is deliberate, with each puzzle building on one idea until the screen clicks, and the emotional register stays reflective and bittersweet, following a man reckoning with a lost love through fragments of his past. Action is mild: there is some stomping on enemies and a few fatal falls, but no gore, gruesome imagery or sexual content, and dread is limited to a melancholy undertone. It is for players who love elegant puzzles, layered storytelling and the pleasure of rewinding a mistake, and it also rewards anyone who enjoys the developer's candid, sprawling commentary track.
