The story

From Lee Petty and Double Fine Productions, Keeper is an atmospheric puzzle adventure in which a long-forgotten lighthouse is awakened and, joined by a spirited seabird, it embarks upon a heartening tale of unlikely companionship, and an unexpected journey into realms beyond understanding.

What it’s like

Wide, painterly skies in dusk gold and pale blue stretch over a scattered archipelago, with weathered stone, drifting clouds and sea spray catching the light. Movement feels unhurried, with the seabird's glide and the lighthouse's slow turn setting the pace, and the score is soft and melodic, with gentle strings and wind-like textures that rise and fall with the scenery. The puzzles are patient and thoughtful, built around exploring each island and working out how the two companions can help one another, so the rhythm is calm rather than urgent. Its emotional register is warm and wistful, with a quiet sense of wonder as an old, forgotten place slowly comes back to life. Death and danger are not part of the experience: there is no combat, no gore, and little sense of threat, only a mild, occasional drift into stranger, more mysterious territory. The vibe is gentle and contemplative, suited to a slow afternoon, a relaxed evening with headphones on, or a low-stakes session that asks for little beyond curiosity. It is for players who want a story of friendship and discovery, built on atmosphere and small, satisfying puzzles rather than challenge or spectacle.
