The story
Following the events of Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.
What it’s like
Bright, polished studio light with clean digital sharpness, the Marvel house look of saturated costume colours set against sleek steel-and-glass cityscapes, airports, and Berlin streets rendered in cool blues and muted greys. The camera moves with purpose: handheld tracking through crowded set pieces, wide establishing shots that let the scale of an urban battle breathe, and tight close-ups in quiet rooms where faces do the work. The score is orchestral and bombastic, swelling under fight sequences and dropping to restrained strings in the talky scenes. Vibe: slick, kinetic, and frank about its divisions, with a wry undercurrent of banter that softens the tension. It suits a Friday night with friends or a big-screen blockbuster itch. Pacing is brisk and sustained, with a few breathing spaces between sprawling showdowns. Emotionally it is about loyalty tested by principle, and the people involved are pulled between old friendship and hard conviction. Intensity is moderate to high: frequent hand-to-hand and energy-blast action with no gore to speak of, some peril and injury, and a tense, sombre mood in the middle act. Best for fans of ensemble superhero films who enjoy spectacle with a sincere moral argument at its heart.
