The story
Living under an alias, a former police informant is summoned to infiltrate a major drug empire but uncovers a dangerous connection to his dark past.
What it’s like
Tense, shadowed crime drama with a grounded, hard-edged feel, the mood of a world where every conversation could turn dangerous. Its register is political as much as criminal, with power, loyalty and old betrayals pressing on each scene, and the pacing favours slow-building suspicion over quick action. The central figure is a man hiding behind a new identity, and the story follows his guarded, increasingly fraught attempts to keep his past from catching up with him. Expect crime violence and the threat of it, with an undercurrent of menace and moral compromise rather than gore for its own sake. It suits late-night viewing when you want something serious and absorbing, with a steady sense of dread. It is for viewers who enjoy undercover thrillers, morally murky characters and crime stories that take their institutions and their politics seriously.
