The story

Vicky, a businessman, loves his younger brother Prem, who spends his time chasing women. The family feels that secretary Sapna will make a good wife for Vicky, but she is already in love with Prem.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated studio colour and broad physical comedy define this 2000 Bollywood romance, with sets that glow in primary reds, yellows and blues and song sequences built on cheerful, wide-angle choreography. The camera stays busy and playful, cutting between slapstick reactions and lush musical numbers, while the score leans on bouncy synth-and-dhol pop that keeps the energy buoyant. Sunny, lighthearted and unhurried in its silliness, it feels like a sugary afternoon watch: easy to follow, full of exaggerated double-takes, mistaken identities and fond sibling squabbling. Its emotional register stays warm and teasing, following two brothers whose rivalry and affection gradually sort out a tangle in love. Violence is limited to mock fights and pratfalls, with no gore and only mild peril, and romance stays chaste, all looks and songs rather than physical intimacy. It suits a lazy weekend, a family evening or a comfort watch when you want something silly, colourful and feel-good, aimed at fans of classic Hindi romantic comedies and anyone wanting upbeat music and gentle laughs.
