The story

The show follows Crime Scene Investigators working for the Miami-Dade Police Department as they use physical evidence, similar to their Las Vegas counterparts, to solve grisly murders. The series mixes deduction, gritty subject matter, and character-driven drama in the same vein as the original series in the CSI franchise, except that the Miami CSIs are cops first, scientists second.

What it’s like

Saturated Miami light does most of the work here: hot white sun, turquoise water, and a constant sheen of humidity, with the crime-scene tents and evidence lights glowing against tropical dusk. The camera is restless and stylised, with dramatic low angles, slow pushes into a body or a bloodstain, and the signature sweeping overhead shots that drop the viewer onto a scene like a dropped coin. Sound is a blend of hip-hop, electronic pulse, and dramatic stings that punctuate each reveal, while the lab sequences turn cold and blue-white. The vibe is glossy, pulpy procedural: slick, a little cheesy, quietly tense, with sun-bleached glamour sitting over real grimness. It suits a lazy weekend binge, a comfort rewatch, or background while folding laundry. Pacing is brisk and episodic, with a case unfolding inside each hour and a team gradually drawn closer across seasons. Violence is regular and sometimes graphic, with murder victims, autopsy detail, and bodies shown on camera, though the show lands it through procedure more than gore. Dark themes and occasional sexual content appear, but rarely linger. Made for viewers who like mystery-solving, forensic detail, and a stylish, sun-soaked ensemble.
