The story

A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life with his days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. But when his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctant Wolverine.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated superhero spectacle with a fondness for its own mess: loud primary reds and yellows against glossy digital backdrops, quick-cut action choreographed for maximum kinetic punch, and a stream of fourth-wall winks that keep the picture restless. The sound is pure blockbuster, heavy bass drops, needle-drop rock and pop cues, and bursts of crunching fight audio, with the rhythm set by jokes landing every few seconds. Vibe-wise it reads as cheeky, chaotic and self-aware, the kind of thing to put on for a loud, undemanding Friday night or a group watch where everyone wants to laugh and cheer. The violence is frequent and cartoonishly bloody, with dismemberment and gore played for gags, plus crude language and sexual innuendo throughout; it is not fear-driven, but it is far from gentle. Emotionally it plays a sincere, if brisk, bromance and redemption arc between two grumpy antiheroes learning to tolerate each other, wrapped in genre-savvy comedy. Made for fans of irreverent comic-book action who enjoy a big, brash, self-mocking ride and don't mind the over-the-top carnage.
