The story

Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie's last dance.

What it’s like

Bright, busy studio-blockbuster frames with saturated night-city neon, glossy digital sheen and handheld jitter during the chases, and a lot of crowded CGI spectacle where the symbiote's black goo ripples over bodies and buildings. The sound leans on a big orchestral-rock score, thudding bass, crunching impacts and Tom Hardy's gruff, comic double-voiced banter between man and alien, with quieter moments of dim interiors and rain-slick streets. Pacing is brisk and escalating, with frequent set-piece fights and a light, wisecracking tone that tips between buddy comedy and melodrama. The emotional arc follows a reluctant, bickering pair of outcasts gradually accepting that they must part, with the goodbye played for both laughs and sentiment. Violence is frequent and action-driven: punches, impacts, creature brawls and some bloody injuries, with a few sharper, more grisly moments, but little sustained gore and nothing sexual. It suits a loud, popcorn-hungry night out or a fan rewatch, and is for viewers who want fast, comic superhero action with a sweet, sentimental send-off.
