The story

A present-day idyllic kingdom where the benevolent teenage son of King Adam and Queen Belle offers a chance of redemption for the troublemaking offspring of Disney's classic villains: Cruella De Vil (Carlos), Maleficent (Mal), the Evil Queen (Evie) and Jafar (Jay).

What it’s like

Bright, saturated daylight and candy-coloured sets give this Disney Channel musical a glossy, sun-washed look, with the Auradon campus all polished marble, pastel uniforms and clean wide frames, while the Isle of the Lost is rendered in grimy purples, rust and sickly green under a murky sky. The sound is pop-forward: bouncy, hook-heavy songs with big choreographed dance numbers, bright synth-pop beats and sweeping ensemble harmonies. The vibe is playful and bubbly, with a light, cheeky edge, the kind of thing that suits a Saturday afternoon, a sleepover or a comfort rewatch with friends. Pacing is brisk and the story moves through quick scene changes and musical interludes, with an emotional register that stays warm and hopeful. Its teen characters tend to arc from suspicion toward trust, learning to see past reputation and label. Intensity is very low: there is some mild peril, a few magic-fueled scuffles and a schoolyard-style rivalry, but no real violence, gore, or sexual content. It is for families, younger teens and anyone who wants upbeat, gentle escapism with catchy songs and a fairy-tale wink.
