The story

Three pairs of friends relationships go from good to bad and back again. Several couple fall out over girls, boys and work. Can all these couples settle their differences and be friends again?

What it’s like

Bright, saturated Disney Channel daylight: sunny suburban streets, pastel bedrooms, glossy hallways and bubbly pop cues that make a teen TV movie feel like a sugary weekend. The camera stays brisk and conventional, with lots of two-shots, quick cuts between friends at lockers, in kitchens and at the mall, and text messages and phone screens popping up as the drama escalates. The score is upbeat pop-rock and light synth, and the mood rarely dips for long. Its vibe is breezy, sunny and gently squabbly, the kind of thing for a lazy afternoon, a sleepover, or background while folding laundry. Pacing is brisk and ensemble-driven, with several friendships souring and mending in tidy, sitcom-length beats; arcs trace friends who hurt each other, sulk, then slowly remember why they liked each other. Intensity is mild: teasing, slammed doors, some tearful confrontations and jealousy, with no violence and nothing frightening. It suits younger teens and anyone wanting an easy, warm comedy about messy friendship that resolves kindly.
