The story
Two stoners wake up after a night of partying and cannot remember where they parked their car.
What it’s like
Bright, flat daylight and saturated suburban color give this one the look of a sunny, slightly grimy road trip, with wide establishing shots of strip malls, highways and cheap motel rooms playing out in the middle distance. The camera is loose and unfussy, mostly straight-on coverage with quick cuts and a lot of mugging into the lens, and the sound is a rotating kit of early-2000s rock and pop cues that keeps the energy bouncing. Its vibe is goofy, sun-bleached and dumb in the most affectionate way. It suits a lazy Saturday afternoon, a hungover morning when you want something that won't ask much of you, or a shared rewatch with friends who already know the jokes. The pace is brisk and episodic, built on escalating gags rather than tension, and the emotional register stays light: the two leads are a pair of loyal, slacker best friends whose bond holds the chaos together, with a sweet, uncomplicated romantic thread running alongside. Intensity is low to moderate: there is plenty of cannabis use, drinking, sexual innuendo and crude humor, with some mild slapstick scuffles and a few comic shoves, but no real gore and little genuine menace. It is for people who want a stupid, friendly comedy that is happy to be silly.
