The story

Enter the world of Eco, a fully simulated ecosystem bustling with thousands of growing plants and animals living their lives. Build, harvest, and take resources from an environment where your every action affects the world around you. An imminent meteor strike threatens global destruction. Can you save the world without destroying it in the process?

What it’s like

Eco is a game of soft greens, sunlit canopies and a stylised, low-poly world that looks like a diorama someone has spent years tending. Its colour palette leans on warm earth tones, deep forest shadow and bright seasonal blues in the sky, with day and night cycles that turn meadows amber at dusk and rinse coastlines in pale morning haze. The camera sits at a comfortable third-person or top-down distance, so you watch small deer wander, rivers bend and your own wooden settlement slowly thicken into a village. Sound is patient: birdsong, wind through grass, the knock of tools, with a sparse ambient score that rises only when the sky begins to darken. The mood is contemplative and quietly anxious, a slow-burn unease about what your choices are costing the living world, and it suits long unhurried evenings, a rainy weekend with a mug of tea, or hours of background focus while you think things through. Pacing is deliberate; progress comes from patient gathering, planning and watching cause and effect ripple outward, and the emotional arc follows a community learning to build with restraint. There is no meaningful violence, gore or cruelty, only the tension of environmental collapse. It suits players who enjoy systems thinking, gentle sandbox building, and co-operative play with friends who want to work toward a shared, hopeful goal.
