The story

A privileged girl and a charismatic boy's instant desire sparks a love affair made only more reckless by parents trying to keep them apart.

What it’s like

Warm, glowing and slightly overexposed, with golden-hour light pouring through summer-house windows and lingering on lawns, pool water and sun-faded wood. The camera drifts and circles its young leads in soft, hand-held closeups, favouring bokeh, lens flare and dreamy slow motion over hard edges, and the palette runs to cream, ivory and burnished amber with the occasional cool blue of night. The score is lush and swelling, full of piano and strings that rise whenever the couple touches, with pop-leaning songs filling the quieter stretches. Its vibe is sun-drenched, swooning and melodramatic, a teen romance that feels like a long summer you are not quite ready to leave. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a comfort rewatch for anyone who loves glossy, emotionally heightened love stories, or late-night indulgence with a blanket and a box of tissues. Pacing is unhurried and sentimental, with the arc following two impulsive teenagers who grow more defiant as their families push back. Intensity is low: some fire, a few tense confrontations and a brief moment of violence, with sex implied and kept largely off screen. It is aimed at viewers who want romance with ache and sweep rather than realism.
