The story

An astronaut returns home from a year long solo mission in space. She tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Her experiences in space and home lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.

What it’s like

Clean white corridors, cool blue-grey station interiors, and suburban rooms washed in pale daylight give this series a sterile, slightly uncanny polish, with a soft electronic underscore that swells under the quiet domestic scenes. The mood is unsettled stillness: long moments of a woman readjusting to ordinary life, broken by creeping paranoia and the sense that something in the house is not quite right. Each hour-long episode moves at a deliberate, serialized pace, with mysteries unspooling slowly and tension building in small gestures rather than set-piece action. Its emotional register is anxious and tender, following a mother and her young son rebuilding trust across a long separation. Violence is occasional and sudden rather than constant, with some thriller-style menace, and themes of pregnancy, artificial insemination and religious zealotry add a clinical unease. Mostly it lands as suspense rather than gore, though some scenes are more tense than gentle. It suits a late-night watch alone or a patient weekend binge for viewers drawn to slow-burn science fiction and emotionally grounded family drama.
