The story

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is the fourth expansion pack to Final Fantasy XIV Online. The expansion takes the story to the "finale" of the Hydaelyn–Zodiark arc. In addition to adding new areas, the expansion pack increases the level cap to 90 and debuts two new character classes, Sage and Reaper.

What it’s like

Endwalker is an MMO expansion, so its look is built on sweeping fantasy vistas: sunlit ruined cities, pale celestial skies, and lush, saturated zones that shift from cloud-topped mountains to sunken sand and crystal-lit caverns. The art direction leans painterly and warm, with bright daylight and soft golden haze in the open areas and cooler blue-violet glow in the moonlit, star-strewn sequences. Its soundtrack is orchestral and lush, with big swelling strings and choral voices during set pieces and quieter, reflective piano in the stillness between them. In hand, the combat is fluid and fast, a rhythm of skill rotations and dodges that suits a focused evening or an unhurried session of wandering. The vibe is epic yet earnest, a mix of wonder and bittersweet farewell, with long cutscenes that build toward emotional climaxes. Violence is stylised and fantastical: swords, magic and battle against monsters and gods, with no gore and little that is graphically disturbing, though some scenes carry grief and tension. It suits players who want a sprawling, character-driven fantasy journey, and those who enjoy an ongoing story told across a long, rewarding campaign.
