The story
Four girlfriends take a trip to New Orleans for an annual festival and, along the way, rediscover their wild sides and strengthen the bonds of sisterhood.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated daylight and humid nighttime street glow give this comedy a loud, festive surface: sweaty crowds under string lights, brass bands bleeding into bass, hotel suites lit in warm pinks and golds, and a camera that stays close and mobile to catch the friends mid-laugh. Its vibe is raucous but affectionate, a high-energy girls-weekend mood with a generous heart underneath. It suits a Friday night with friends, a loud group watch, or a lift-your-spirits pick when you want to laugh out loud. The pacing is brisk and rowdy, with set pieces stacking one on another, while the emotional core settles into the reconnection of four longtime friends, one of them working through a marriage gone bad. Expect frank sexual humour, strong language, boozy and drug-fuelled excess, and a few graphic gags that play for laughs rather than real menace; there is no gore and the violence is minimal. It is for viewers who want a funny, warm, unapologetically messy night out on screen, and for anyone who loves comedies centred on Black women's friendship.
