The story

Lenny has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises—the last day of school.

What it’s like

Bright, flat suburban daylight and saturated summer greens, with the camera mostly parked in medium and wide shots of cul-de-sacs, lake houses and a school gym that looks lived-in rather than styled. The look is broad and unfussy, closer to a sitcom than a stylised comedy, with plenty of loud public settings, chaotic group blocking and reaction shots held a beat too long. Sound leans on pop-rock needle drops, bright ambient chatter and sudden slapstick cues. Vibe: loose, silly, sun-warmed. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a background watch on a summer evening, or a comfort rewatch with friends who like their humour goofy. Pacing is episodic and shaggy, with scenes that drift into improvised riffing. The emotional register is affectionate and light: middle-aged men who still act like teenagers, a family that gradually finds its footing, and friendships tested and repaired without much weight. Intensity is low to moderate: crude jokes, bodily gags, some rough slapstick and mild sexual innuendo, with no real gore and little menace. Made for fans of broad, gag-driven comedy who want something gentle in its heart and not too demanding.
