The story
In the cartel-run town of Gulaabgunj, an unprecedented opium deal pulls a big-city cop and a lovesick mechanic into its chaotic clutches.
What it’s like
Saturated, sun-bleached colour everywhere: dusty lanes painted in pinks and ochres, mustard-yellow walls, bright shop signage, and wide establishing shots that give a small, heated town a storybook glow. Camera work is lively and playful, with quick cuts, zooms into comic reactions, and frequent shifts between a fastidious city and a sleepy, scheming provincial one. The score mixes retro Bollywood-style songs with bouncy pulses and offbeat percussion, so the soundtrack often sets the joke before the dialogue lands. Its vibe is brash, cheeky and sardonic, a dark caper comedy that treats crime as absurd theatre. The pace is brisk, with episodes that move through rapid escalations and double-crosses, and the characters are bumbling, vain or lovelorn figures whose ambitions keep colliding. Violence is frequent and cartoonishly staged, with gunfights and sudden bloodshed played for laughs, along with drug-trade menace, profanity and some crude sexual innuendo; it's not gentle, though the gore is more comic than harrowing. Best for viewers who want a loud, irreverent binge with sharp banter and a hint of noir, not a quiet or soothing watch.
