The story

Gyeongseong, 1945. In Seoul's grim era under colonial rule, an entrepreneur and a sleuth fight for survival and face a monster born out of human greed.

What it’s like

Dim, grimy colonial-era Seoul rendered in sepia-tinted interiors, smoke-choked streets and sudden flashes of lamplight, with the palette swinging between bruised browns and sickly greens whenever the creature is near. The camera stays busy and close, with handheld moves through crowded markets and hospital corridors, and the monster is shown in fragments and shadow before it is fully revealed. The sound design leans on rattling trams, distant Japanese military marches, wet slithering and sudden silences, with a brooding orchestral score that swells into percussion during chases. Vibe: grim, feverish, politically bitter, with flashes of dark wit. Pacing is brisk and serialized, with cliffhanger episode endings and frequent reversals. The intensity is high: frequent violence, bloody gore, body horror and graphic deaths, plus scenes of cruelty toward civilians under occupation. Not gentle. Suits viewers who want a monster show with a sharp historical edge, for a late-night binge when they can handle grim, bloody material and a tense, angry tone.
