The story

Nick and Charlie are best friends. Nick knows Charlie's gay, and Charlie is sure the Nick isn't. But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is discovering all kinds of things about his friends, his family ... and himself.

What it’s like

Bright, clean panels with soft pastel washes and loose, expressive linework, the kind of graphic-novel page where a single blush or a shy half-smile carries a whole scene. Its school corridors, shared lunch tables, and sunlit playing fields feel warm and familiar, and the sound you'd hear inside it is the chatter of a school day and the hush of a quiet conversation on a bench. The vibe is tender, funny, and gently hopeful, a sweet slow-burn with low stakes and plenty of charm. It suits a rainy Sunday, a comfort reread, or an evening with a mug of tea when you want something light that still feels honest. The pacing is unhurried, with short chapters that linger on small gestures, and the emotional register swings between giggly and quietly moving. Its central arc follows two teenage boys who grow closer and begin to understand their feelings, and the story deals with coming out, family, and friendship with real care. Intensity is very low: there is no violence, no graphic content, and the tension is emotional rather than frightening, with some mild homophobia and anxiety handled gently. It is written for readers who want an affectionate, uplifting queer teen romance that feels kind and sincere.
