The story
After the death of Don José by an 'accident', two families, the Spanish and a Mexican, end up fighting for their inheritance. The baby Lupe is expecting is the heir to that fortune. We discover that both families are hiding great secrets.
What it’s like
Light, talky ensemble comedy with the feel of a family sitcom that leans into farce, where the humour comes from people bickering, misreading each other and keeping secrets across a language and cultural divide. The tone is warm and quick rather than dark, with the family drama running underneath the jokes. Expect rapid back-and-forth dialogue, mixed Spanish and Mexican idiom, and a steady rhythm of escalating misunderstandings in household settings. Its emotional arc follows rival relatives who grudgingly start to see each other as family, and a central pregnancy that keeps raising the stakes. Intensity is low: the comedy is mostly verbal and situational, with no graphic violence, and the death that sets things moving is treated as a comic hook rather than a shocking event. It suits a relaxed evening with company, a comfort watch, or a lighthearted background show for viewers who enjoy big family chaos, sharp banter, and soap-style twists.
