The story
Morgan is a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective.
What it’s like
Bright, sunlit Los Angeles daylight, sun-washed streets and clean network-TV framing, with the camera settling into tidy two-shots in kitchens, cars and squad rooms. The palette runs warm and neutral, with the occasional saturated flash of a crime scene or a sunny backyard. The score is light and bouncy, built on brisk piano and playful stingers that punctuate each deduction. Episodes move at a quick procedural clip, with a case opening, a wobble of misdirection, and a satisfying click into place. Its vibe is breezy, absurd and warm, a comfort mystery with a sharp comedic edge and a loose, affectionate rapport between its leads. It suits a weeknight watch, a lazy weekend afternoon, or background viewing while folding laundry. Violence is limited to off-screen or brief, non-graphic moments, with murders handled as puzzles rather than horror, and no gore. The emotional register is light and hopeful, following a single mother's unconventional brilliance finding a place in a rigid system. It is for viewers who want an intelligent, funny case-of-the-week show that feels gentle and easygoing.
