The story

A secret life is the one thing they have in common. At school, Hori is a prim and perfect social butterfly, but the truth is she's a brash homebody. Meanwhile, under a gloomy facade, Miyamura hides a gentle heart, along with piercings and tattoos. In a chance meeting, they both reveal a side they've never shown. Could this blossom into something new?

What it’s like

Bright, clean anime animation with soft pastel skies, warm interior lamplight in the family homes, and sun-dappled school corridors that feel airy and unhurried. The colours are cheerful but never garish, and the framing favours gentle two-shots and quiet reaction beats, with the occasional playful exaggerated expression for comic effect. The score leans on light piano and bright acoustic guitar, with easy pop-tinged themes that sit under the dialogue without demanding attention. The vibe is warm, sweet and low-key, the kind of slice-of-life romcom best watched on a lazy weekend afternoon or as a comfort rewatch with a cup of tea. Pacing is episodic and relaxed, built around everyday moments and small revelations, and the emotional register stays tender and affectionate rather than dramatic. Its central pair slowly drop their guarded public personas and grow closer through awkward, honest conversations. Intensity is very mild: some teasing and mild, non-graphic physical comedy, with no violence, and romance kept to hand-holding and blushing. It suits viewers who want something gentle, funny and heartfelt, and anyone who enjoys school-age romance without heavy angst.
