The story

Experience the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn with stunning new visuals and upgraded features. In a far future where colossal machines roam the Earth, pockets of humanity survive in unique tribes among the lush, overgrown ruins of our long-lost civilization.

What it’s like

Sun-drenched and overgrown, with long vistas of rolling grassland, sage-green canyons and rust-red mesas under wide golden-hour skies, and the bright, saturated foliage of a world reclaimed by nature. Ruins of the old world poke through the greenery in clean geometric shapes, and the remastered lighting makes dawn and dusk especially rich. The soundscape pairs wind through tall grass and birdsong with a percussive, tribal-leaning score that swells during hunts and drops to quiet strings and ambient hum between them. Sitting with it feels like a long, contemplative ramble punctuated by tense, deliberate fights against towering mechanical beasts, where you track prey, study movement and pick your moment. Pacing is steady and exploratory, with wide-open travel and frequent side detours that reward curiosity. Violence is stylised but regular: machine combat is intense and sometimes bloody-looking in a mechanical way, with occasional brutal moments and some dark themes of loss and betrayal, though nothing lingers in gore. It suits players who want a sprawling, scenic adventure with action that rewards patience, for a weekend-long immersion or a relaxed evening session.
