The story

A head injury causes a woman to develop an extraordinary amount of confidence and believe she's drop dead gorgeous.

What it’s like

Bright, glossy studio-comedy polish: saturated pastel interiors, sunlit apartments and a sleek New York office lit with cheerful flat daylight, the frame full of pinks, mint greens and white cosmetics counters that look like a candy shop. Camera work is conventional and easy, with plenty of medium two-shots and punchline close-ups, and the score bounces along on upbeat pop with a warm, friendly sheen. Vibe: breezy, sunny, self-consciously silly, the kind of light comedy you can half-watch on a lazy afternoon or put on as a comfort watch when you want to laugh without thinking too hard. Pacing is brisk and sitcom-quick, with physical gags and awkward social set pieces, and the emotional register stays buoyant, its central arc a woman learning to see herself differently and drop her insecurities. Intensity is low: some crude jokes and mild sexual innuendo, a few awkward falls and a fleeting head injury, but no real violence, horror or cruelty. It suits people who want a feel-good, playful romantic comedy about body image and self-esteem, and who enjoy broad humour with a bright, upbeat heart.
