The story
Diego, Manny and Sid return in this sequel to the hit animated movie Ice Age. This time around, the deep freeze is over, and the ice-covered earth is starting to melt, which will destroy the trio's cherished valley. The impending disaster prompts them to reunite and warn all the other beasts about the desperate situation.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated CGI animation with a warm, cartoonish gloss: sunlit snowfields that tip into turquoise meltwater, pale glacial blues, and the lush greens and oranges of a valley coming apart at the seams. The camera moves with brisk, kinetic energy, swooping over ice slides, tumbling down canyons and cutting between slapstick set pieces, while the score leans on bouncy orchestral swells and cheerful pop-rock. The mood is light and busy rather than quiet: a breezy, comic adventure with a sprinkle of gentle sentiment about old friends and new loves. Intensity is low: physical comedy and peril that resolves quickly, with flooding and falling ice played for laughs, and no gore or real cruelty. It suits a relaxed family movie night, a lazy afternoon with kids, or a comfort watch when you want something cheerful and undemanding. It is for people who want warm humour, bright visuals and a light, reassuring ride with a loyal found family.
