The story
A survival drama about an ice skater stranded on an ice floe at the Arctic Sea. When the ice floe starts to float towards south and melt, the ice skater must use all means necessary to survive.
What it’s like
Cold, pale light on endless grey-white ice, with the horizon barely separable from the sky, and a camera that stays close to one figure as the frame fills with glare, wind and open water. The palette runs to bone white, slate blue and the occasional smear of red against the cold, and the sound design leans on wind, cracking ice, the hiss of water and long stretches of near silence broken by a low, unsettling drone. Its vibe is bleak, austere and isolating, a film to sit with on a cold, quiet night when you want tension without noise. Pacing is measured and physical, with long held shots that let fatigue and dread build, and the emotional register stays hard-edged and resourceful: a lone woman confronting the slow, practical reality of staying alive and making hard choices as her world shrinks. Intensity is moderate: peril, exposure and grim survival situations, with some bodily harm and tense moments, but no gore for its own sake. It suits viewers who like survival dramas built on atmosphere, stark landscapes and quiet determination rather than fast action.
