The story

"Once upon a time, there were five crazy people and they poisoned the 21st century. Now they have to deal with the corrosion to try to save us all from a world becoming too weird to support human life. Injection... is science fiction, tales of horror, strange crime fiction, techno-thriller, and ghost story all at the same time. A serialized sequence of graphic novels about how loud and strange the world is getting, about the wild future and the haunted past all crashing into the present day at once, and about five eccentric geniuses dealing with the paranormal and numinous as well as the growing weight of what they did to the planet with the Injection." -- Page [4] cover.

What it’s like

Dense, gritty panels with heavy black shadows, sickly greens and rust tones, and cluttered city streets that feel slightly off-kilter, as if the world is straining at its seams. The sound of it is a low hum of unease: crackling radio static, distant sirens, and clipped, wry dialogue that jumps between dark jokes and dread. Its vibe is bleak, unsettled and sardonic, with the feel of late-night paranoia and the uncanny creeping into ordinary life. It suits a long solitary read after dark, or a stretch of time when you want something that keeps you slightly on edge without tipping into relentless gore. The pacing is brisk and episodic, each chapter a sharp jolt of weirdness, while the emotional arc follows a group of damaged, brilliant misfits grappling with consequences they cannot escape. Violence is present and sometimes sudden, with grotesque imagery and the occasional bloody confrontation, but the horror lies mostly in atmosphere and implication rather than spectacle. It is for readers who enjoy speculative fiction that blends science, haunting and cynicism, and who like their apocalypse strange, human and darkly funny.
