The story

The story of the Mumbai Mavericks, a T20 cricket franchise playing in the Powerplay League. Set in a landscape of conflicting interests, where selfishness is almost a virtue, where sex, money, and power are mere means to an end, Inside Edge is a story that pulls no punches, minces no words, and takes no prisoners. Come witness the game behind the game.

What it’s like

Glossy, saturated digital imagery of Mumbai at night: stadium floodlights bleaching the pitch, hotel suites and team buses lit in cold white and warm amber, the bright hard glare of franchise boardrooms. Camera work is restless and mobile, with quick cuts between match action and back-room negotiations, and the broadcast-style graphics and scoreboard overlays give the whole thing a sporty, energetic pulse. The score leans on driving percussion and synth stings, rising sharply through the big overs and dropping to tense, close-talking dialogue scenes. Vibe: slick, cynical, fast-moving, a sports-night binge with a corrupt undertow. Pacing is brisk and episodic, and its people are ambitious, compromised figures whose loyalties keep shifting under pressure. Intensity is moderate and mostly verbal: sexual content and sexual manipulation appear, alongside arguments, threats and betting-fuelled deception, with some violence that is brief and not graphic. Suits viewers who want a cynical, sharp-tongued drama about money and power in sport, watched late at night or as a binge, and who are comfortable with adult material and moral ugliness.
