The story

Police chief Brody must protect the citizens of Amity after a second monstrous shark begins terrorizing the waters.

What it’s like

Bright summer daylight on open water and a sun-washed resort town give way to dread that lives mostly in the deep blue, with the camera lingering on sailboats, beach crowds and the glitter of waves before the menace surfaces. Sunlit, seasick unease defines the look: hazy blues and greens, sandy boardwalks, and night scenes lit by harbor lamps and flickering flashlights. Scenes build in long, patient stretches of talk on boats and docks, then snap into jolting panic when the water turns violent. The sound design leans on John Williams's shark motif, a low pulse that tightens every approach, broken by splashes, distant shouts and a boat engine that cuts out at the wrong moment. Expect a steady thriller rhythm with frequent cutaways to the mayor's rivalry and the chief's frayed family life. Violence is present and occasionally graphic, including attacks, bloody injuries and a boating disaster, though gore stays moderate and sudden rather than prolonged. Fright is the main register, with tension and grief in the background. It suits viewers who want a summer-set creature thriller with a grounded, working-class sense of community under siege.
