The story

A group of friends, who love to make bets with one another, play a prank that goes horribly wrong when one of them is murdered.

What it’s like

Bright, glossy 90s Bollywood polish: saturated college-campus colours, sunlit quads, hostel corridors lit by warm tube lights, and bold, colourful costumes that shift with each song sequence. The soundtrack is upbeat pop and playful film songs, with suspense cues that tighten when the mystery turns. The pace is brisk and sometimes frothy, with comic bantering between friends giving way to a sharp, sudden dread after a death and a run of accusations and red herrings. Romance and dance keep the mood light even as the investigation grows tense. The emotional register swings between teasing camaraderie and uneasy suspicion, and the young leads move from carefree rivalry toward a more serious search for the truth. Violence is brief and not graphic, with the murder and its aftermath handled through suspense rather than gore, though there is some peril and menace. It suits a Saturday afternoon, a comfort rewatch, or a lively evening with friends, and it's for viewers who enjoy masala entertainment, campus capers, and whodunit twists with plenty of music.
