The story

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

What it’s like

Dim, metallic interiors and cold blue-grey exteriors give Krypton a sleek, slightly oppressive look, with the planet's crystalline spires and sunlit ruins catching warm amber against the gloom. Action is staged in fluid, mobile camera work and quick cuts, while the score leans on pulsing synth and orchestral swells that rise during fights and drop to hush in quieter scenes. The mood is brooding and political, tinged with dread as a society tips toward disorder. Its people are shamed outsiders clawing back toward dignity, and the arc is steady rather than sentimental. Violence is regular and fairly physical, with sword and blaster fights and some bloody injuries, though gore stays restrained and there is little sexual content. Best for sci-fi fans who want serious worldbuilding, tense court intrigue and a long-form saga on a rainy weekend binge rather than something gentle.
