The story

The epic continuation of Diriliş Ertuğrul, Kuruluş Osman follows Osman Bey — son of Ertuğrul and destined founder of the Ottoman Empire — as he transforms a small Turkic tribe into a sovereign state. Battling the Byzantine Empire, Mongol forces and treachery from within, Osman must prove himself as both a warrior and a leader. A sweeping historical action drama built on faith, honour and the birth of one of history's greatest empires.

What it’s like

Broad, golden-hued Anatolian landscapes dominate: dusty plains under hard noon sun, cool blue dawns over misty hills, and candlelit interiors of tents and palace halls where warm amber light pools on carpets and wooden pillars. Camera work leans on sweeping wide shots of cavalry crossing open country, punctuated by close, handheld framing during tense councils and duels, with steady dolly moves through bazaars and fortress courtyards. The score swells with orchestral strings, taiko-like percussion and ney flute, and battle sequences are loud and rhythmic, giving way to quiet prayer calls and hushed night scenes. Its vibe is earnest, stately and warmly heroic, the kind of sweeping historical epic best watched across several evenings or as a weekend binge with the lights low. Pacing is episodic and unhurried between clashes, with a young leader slowly growing into authority while loyalty is tested and rivals gather. Violence is regular and fairly intense: swordfights, arrow volleys and battlefield casualties, with some bloodshed but little gore, and no explicit sexual content. Strong for viewers who enjoy faith-inflected history, honour-driven drama and grand costume spectacle.
