The story

Leticia Padilla Solís, “Leti”, is an intelligent but unattractive girl, rather ugly. She graduated with honors in economics, speaks several languages, is fluent in computers, and is a financial genius. Only, because of his physique, she can't find work. Desperate to find a job, “Lety” decides to accept being hired below her level and takes a job as a secretary at Conceptos, a famous video production company, where ugliness is taboo. The production company “Conceptos” was founded by two good friends: Don Humberto Mendiola, and Julián Villaroel. Unfortunately, shortly after, the Villaroels die in an accident and Don Humberto and his wife Teresita take care of the Villaroels' orphaned children: Ariel, Marcia and Ana Leticia and the successful company.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated studio lighting, glossy sets and bold primary-colored wardrobe give this telenovela a warm, theatrical look, with broad comic framing and big reaction close-ups that make every office glance feel like an event. The sound is a bouncy mix of Mexican pop and cheerful stings that punctuate each twist, and the rhythm is brisk and episodic, with cliffhangers that arrive on schedule. Its vibe is sunny, sentimental and a little campy: a comfort watch for an unhurried weekend afternoon, or something easy to half-follow while cooking. Set in a television production company, it follows a brilliant young woman who takes a humbling job where appearance is prized, and the emotional arc is about self-worth and a slow-building romance rather than darkness. Intensity is low: there is light romantic tension and soap-opera melodrama, with a few tearful confrontations and a family backstory involving an accident referenced offscreen, but no graphic violence, gore or sexual content. It suits viewers who want gentle, romantic comedy with heart, an old-fashioned telenovela sensibility, and a warm, feel-good ending to a long week.
