The story
Beatriz Pinzón Solano is a brilliant economist with a master's degree in finance; she has only one flaw: she's ugly. Everything changes when she starts working at Ecomoda, one of the country's largest companies, where she meets and falls in love with Armando Mendoza. This time, life will give her a second chance to prove she can become the most desired and beloved woman in the world.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated studio sets and bold primary-colored wardrobes give this Colombian telenovela its cartoonish, candy-box glow, with fluorescent-lit corporate offices, tacky pastel bedrooms, and gaudy fashion-house interiors shot in plain, theatrical medium frames. The sound is a mix of brassy orchestral stings, accordion-tinged Colombian pop, and sudden comic sound effects that announce every reversal. The vibe is campy, warm and self-aware, a sitcom-soap with a wink, best for a lazy weekend binge, a comfort rewatch, or background while folding laundry. Pacing is deliberately episodic and repetitive, with scenes stretched by melodramatic pauses, rapid-fire misunderstandings, and recurring running gags. Its emotional register swings between broad slapstick and genuine sweetness, following an earnest, underestimated woman who is judged on appearance and gradually claims her own worth while the people around her are slow to change. Violence is minimal and mostly comic, with occasional shouting, schemes, and mild sexual innuendo; nothing graphic or frightening. Suited to people who want a funny, big-hearted soap with heart and no real menace, especially fans of over-the-top romance and workplace comedy.
